Shelburne was founded in the early 1860s as a part of Melanchthon and was incorporated as a town in 1877. According to Canada’s 2016 Census, Shelburne is the fastest growing town in Ontario and the second fastest growing town in all of Canada.

Shelburne has its downtown core at the intersection of Highway 10 (Owen Sound Street) and Highway 89 (Main Street). Other homes in Shelburne will vary in age, from the early 1900s to brand-new developments. The population has grown and diversified, bringing new life into the old town.
